Medication Administration Training
UMA alumni are trained candidates with industry knowledge needed to enter the field.
Activity Overview
Medication is used to diagnose, treat, or prevent illness — and they come in a variety of ways. These medications can have adverse, even dangerous, effects If administered improperly. This 6-hour instructor-led course will allow unlicensed direct service providers to supervise the self-administration of medication or to administer oral, transdermal, ophthalmic, otic, rectal, inhaled, enteral, or topical prescription medications to a client.
Learning Objectives
After completion of the program, attendees should be able to:
- State the six rights of medication administration
- Explain the importance of having information on symptoms of adverse reactions and side effects of prescribed or over the counter medications, and how to locate it
- Identify the allowed routes of medication administration
- Explain the steps required for addressing medication errors and safe storage and disposal of medication
- Demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
- Completion and maintenance of all required forms
- Completion of a Medication Administration Record (MAR)
- Documentation and communication of determination of need
- Safe handling of medications and maintaining sanitary conditions
- Handling and preparation of practitioner orders, prescriptions and prescription labels
- Proper preparation and positioning of the client
Schedule: 4th Friday of every month | 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Target Audience
This program is designed for unlicensed direct service providers, including Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), resident aides, behavioral technicians, and other unlicensed professionals.

$75
Seats are limited to a six learner maximum at this time due to COVID-19.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
Ultimate Medical Academy designates this activity for a maximum of 0.60 Continuing Education Units.
UMA is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). This training is not included within the institution’s grant of accreditation from ABHES.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
Trainings may be subject to change or cancellation.
Learner/Employer-Initiated Cancellation, Rescheduling and Substitution
Learners and employers may choose to cancel or change the date of their training to an alternate training date based on availability without penalty by contacting umacme@ultimatemedical.edu.
For learner cancellations that are not rescheduled, refunds will be issued as follows:
- 4 or more days before course starts – 75% refund
- 3 days or fewer before course starts – 50% refund
The full cost of the course will be charged for learners who arrive late, otherwise miss part of a course, or who neither attend the course nor cancel.
Learners who are registered by and have their training paid by an employer should coordinate cancellation or rescheduling through the employer to ensure accurate and timely processing.
UMA-Initiated Cancellation, Rescheduling and Substitution
From time to time, UMA may need to cancel or reschedule a course. If UMA cancels a course, it will inform the learner and payor as soon as possible, and will give the option of attending the next available course. UMA will issue a full refund if an alternate course date is not available or acceptable to the learner or payor. Learners are responsible for managing their own certifications; UMA is not responsible for certifications which may expire after a cancelled course but before a rescheduled course (if any) is available.
